Journal

A trickle of photo journals that scratch the surface of the complexities found in both the wildlife and in the people of the Pacific coast. A variety of writings featuring coastal causes, the preservation of wilderness, connection to place, conservation, the nuances of a life rolling out in coastal communities, and reflections on the limitless teachings provided by wildlife, place, people, and purpose. Monthly.

CURRENT

A steady flood of images and micro-stories of the ebb and flow of place-based wonderings in the life of a dock-dweller and her canine companion. Currently written from the shores of Cormorant Island or floating somewhere in the Kwakwaka'wakw territories of the Broughton Archipelago - and from past dwellings spanning the coast from Southern California to the tip of British Columbia. Weekly.

POETRY

A drop of slow words as an antidote to the rapidity of the modern world. This personal collection of poetry and prose centres around coming home to myself, to my body, and to the place that raised me.
In Mary Oliver's words: “Poems are not words, after all, but fires for the cold, ropes let down to the lost, something as necessary as bread in the pockets of the hungry.” Bi-weekly.

PAST PROJECTS

coastal Community

There is an ocean of important and necessary work being done to protect the coast, wildlife, and Indigenous culture that need your actions, time, donations, and energy. Our Coastal Community serves as a hub to highlight these important initiatives being chipped away at by various communities, non-profits, individuals, allies, lobbyists, activists, artists, and more. Stay involved and informed, and take action on causes like wild salmon protection, safeguarding old-growth forests, ending trophy hunting of coastal carnivores, curbing climate change, protecting watersheds, protecting endangered species, supporting coastal communities, standing up for Indigenous rights, creating marine protected areas, facilitating conservation research and science, and more. Safeguarding this coast, and this planet, is possible if we work together.
